  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water.
  2. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the sticky pecan topping. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped pecans.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape. Sprinkle the pecan topping evenly over the dough.
  6. Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal-sized pieces.
  7. Place the buns in a greased baking dish, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 10 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the sticky buns for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool in the baking dish for a few minutes. Invert the dish onto a serving plate to release the sticky pecan topping.
