Donuts are believed to have originated in the Netherlands and were brought to America by Dutch settlers.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a bowl, combine the pancake mix, milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Grease a donut pan with butter.

Spoon the pancake mix batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

Carefully remove the donuts from the pan and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust the donuts with powdered sugar.
