Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) baking pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Fold in the raisins and chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
