Nut Filling for Kolacky Cookies
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the vanilla extract and salt, and mix well.
-
Gradually add in the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Shape the dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
-
In a separate bowl, combine the ground walnuts, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and egg yolk. Mix well until the filling is smooth.
-
Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out small circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.
-
Place the dough circles onto the prepared baking sheet and spoon a small amount of the nut filling onto the center of each circle.
-
Fold the edges of the circle over the filling, pinching them together to seal. Repeat this process with the remaining dough circles.
-
Bake the kolacky cookies in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Allow the cookies to cool slightly before dusting them with powdered sugar.
-
Serve and enjoy!
