Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and crumble.

In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.

In a baking dish, combine the baked beans, sautéed onion and garlic, tomato paste, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

Top the mixture with the crumbled bacon.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the beans are thick and bubbly.

Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
