Molasses Cookies with Brown Butter Icing
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
-
In a separate large bowl, mix together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
-
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
-
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are set. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
-
Once the cookies have cooled, drizzle the brown butter icing over the cookies. Allow the icing to set before serving.
