Mini Mocha Scones
Scones originated in Scotland and are a popular treat in British and American cultures. The addition of mocha flavor adds a delightful twist to this classic baked good.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and instant coffee granules.

Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the granulated sugar.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Fold in the chocolate chips.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.

Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch (5 cm) thick. Cut the circle into 8 wedges.

Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden.
