Mile-High Apple Pie
The Mile-High Apple Pie gets its name from the tall, towering appearance of the pie when baked with a double crust.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.

Peel, core, and slice the apples.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well.

Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.

Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple filling.

Trim and seal the edges of the pie crusts together.

Beat the egg with milk and brush the mixture over the top crust.

Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
