  3. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring, until the dough comes together.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently a few times.
