In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

Stir in the chopped walnuts and dates until evenly distributed.

Press the mixture into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the confectioners' sugar and lemon juice to make a glaze.

Remove the bars from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the top.
