Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times to bring it together.

Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8 wedges.

Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
