In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Mix until just combined.

Spread half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Arrange half of the sliced apples on top, then sprinkle with half of the cinnamon. Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
