  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Continue to boil for 3-4 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
  5. Pour the hot toffee mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee.
  8. Let the chocolate chips sit for a few minutes to soften, then spread them evenly over the toffee.
  9. Sprinkle chopped almonds on top.
  10. Allow the toffee to cool at room temperature for about 1 hour, or until it hardens.
  11. Once the toffee has hardened, break it into pieces and serve.
