Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.

In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.

Continue to boil for 3-4 minutes, until the mixture thickens.

Pour the hot toffee mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling.

Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee.

Let the chocolate chips sit for a few minutes to soften, then spread them evenly over the toffee.

Sprinkle chopped almonds on top.

Allow the toffee to cool at room temperature for about 1 hour, or until it hardens.

Once the toffee has hardened, break it into pieces and serve.
