  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to steam.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Slowly pour the hot cream into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly.
  5. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the Kahlua liqueur, vanilla extract, and salt.
  7. Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
  8. Pour the melted chocolate into the custard mixture and whisk until well combined.
  9. Divide the mixture evenly among 4 ramekins or small jars.
  10. Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with enough hot water to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  11. Carefully transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pots de creme are set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  12. Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature.
  13. Once cooled, cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  14. Serve chilled, optionally garnished with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
