Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a loaf tin.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the egg and mix well.

Sift the flour, mixed spice, and baking powder into the bowl. Mix until combined.

Drain the soaked fruit and fold it into the batter.

Gradually add milk to achieve a soft dropping consistency.
