Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pan of simmering water. Stir until smooth and then remove from heat.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until pale and thick.
  4. Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the chocolate mixture until just incorporated.
  6. Gently fold in the chestnut puree until evenly mixed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared springform pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, dust the top of the torte with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream.
