  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold cubed butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the cream mixture into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently a few times until it comes together.
  7. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle and cut out scones using a round biscuit cutter.
  8. Place the scones onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the tops of the scones with additional heavy cream.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the scones cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
