In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and hazelnut meal.

In a separate bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.

Mix in the vanilla extract and salt.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

Divide the dough in half and add green food coloring to one half, kneading until the color is evenly distributed.

Shape each half of the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll out the plain dough on a lightly floured surface to a 1/4-inch thickness.

Cut out tree shapes using a cookie cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Roll out the green dough and cut out smaller tree shapes.

Place a green tree on top of each plain tree.

Press chopped hazelnuts onto the trees to resemble tree trunks.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
