  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in the buttermilk and mashed butternut squash. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
