Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Slice the French bread loaf into 1-inch thick slices, without cutting all the way through.

Drain the green chiles and stuff them into the slits of the bread.

In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Drizzle the butter mixture over the bread, making sure to get it into the slits.

Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top of the bread.

Wrap the bread loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let the bread rest for 5 minutes before serving.
