Green bean casserole, which is similar to green bean bake, was created by the Campbell Soup Company in 1955 and has since become a popular holiday dish in the United States.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large pot, bring water to a boil and blanch the green beans for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.

In a skillet, sauté the mushrooms, onion, and garlic until tender.

In a large bowl, combine the mushroom soup, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Add the sautéed mushrooms, onion, and garlic to the bowl and mix.

Add the blanched green beans to the bowl and mix until well coated.

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle the French fried onions on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
