Grandma Brown’s Gingerbread
Gingerbread has been enjoyed for centuries and is often associated with holiday traditions, especially in the United States and Europe.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking pan.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, sugar, molasses, and egg.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with hot water. Mix until well combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

Transfer the gingerbread to a wire rack and let it cool completely before serving.

Serve as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream.
