  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a disc. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disc of dough to about 1/4 inch (6 cm) thickness. Cut out different sizes of star shapes.
  7. Place the stars on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
  8. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  9. Let the cookies cool completely.
  10. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze.
  11. Stack the cookies on a serving plate, starting with the largest star at the bottom and ending with the smallest star on top.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the cookies and decorate with assorted candies and decorations.
