Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
-
Take about a tablespoon of dough and roll it into a finger shape. Place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough.
-
Press one almond onto the tip of each cookie to resemble a fingernail. Use a knife to make knuckle marks on each cookie.
-
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
-
Once the cookies have cooled slightly, use a toothpick to apply a small amount of red gel food coloring to the base of each almond to create a bloody effect.
-
Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
