Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, butter, and salt. Mix until crumbly.

Press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Spread the pineapple preserves over the crust.

Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the preserves.

Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top.

Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.

Allow to cool in the pan for 30 minutes.

Dust with confectioners' sugar.
