Figs have been cultivated for thousands of years and are one of the oldest known fruits.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and line a pie dish with it.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced figs, sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Pour the fig mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  5. Dot the top of the pie with butter.
  6. Roll out the remaining pie crust and cut into strips.
  7. Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern on top of the fig filling.
  8. Brush the lattice crust with egg wash.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 1 hour before serving.
