Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter.
-
Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Arrange the apple slices in the center of the rolled-out dough, leaving a border around the edges.
-
Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pleating as necessary. Brush the edges of the dough with beaten egg and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
-
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
-
Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
