  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine blackberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Toss gently until the blackberries are coated. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or by rubbing it with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
  5. Transfer the blackberry mixture to the greased baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the dough evenly over the top of the blackberries.
  6. Sprinkle turbinado sugar over the dough.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the blackberries are bubbling.
