Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large bowl, combine the dried apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well and set aside for 15 minutes to allow the apples to rehydrate slightly.
-
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and unsalted butter. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Add the ice water to the flour mixture and mix until the dough comes together.
-
Divide the dough in half and roll out one half on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie dish.
-
Transfer the rolled-out dough to the pie dish and trim any excess.
-
Pour the dried apple mixture into the pie dish.
-
Roll out the remaining dough and use it to cover the pie.
-
Crimp the edges of the pie crust to seal.
-
Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of the pie crust.
-
Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
-
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
-
Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
