Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined.
  3. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  4. Divide the batter equally between the prepared cake pans.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  8. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped cream on top.
  9. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining whipped cream.
  10. Garnish with fresh berries.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  12. Serve chilled and enjoy!
