Double Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies
The chocolate chip cookie was accidentally invented by Ruth Wakefield in the 1930s when she ran out of baker’s chocolate and substituted it with chopped chocolate chunks, expecting it to melt and mix into the dough. Instead, the chocolate chunks held their shape, creating the first chocolate chip cookie!

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft.

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
