Double Chocolate Almond Cookies
Did you know that chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938? She added chopped chocolate to her cookie dough, expecting it to melt and create chocolate cookies. However, the chocolate remained chunky, giving birth to the beloved chocolate chip cookie!

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the chocolate chips and sliced almonds.

Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
