Divine Macaroons
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
-
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
-
Gently fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until well combined. Add the vanilla extract and food coloring, if desired.
-
Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each macaroon.
-
Tap the baking sheet on the counter a few times to release any air bubbles. Let the macaroons rest for about 30 minutes, until a skin forms on the surface.
-
Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet.
-
Once cooled, spread buttercream filling on the flat side of half the macaroons. Top with the remaining macaroons to create sandwiches.
-
Serve and enjoy!
