  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, then cut them into cubes.
  3. Place the sweet potato cubes in a large pot of boiling water and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Drain the cooked sweet potatoes and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
  5. Add the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the bowl with the sweet potatoes.
  6. Use an electric mixer or a potato masher to whip the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy.
  7. Transfer the whipped sweet potatoes to a baking dish and smooth the top.
  8. Sprinkle the mini marshmallows evenly over the top of the sweet potatoes.
  9. If desired, sprinkle the pecans over the marshmallows.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown and the sweet potatoes are heated through.
  11. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
