Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.

Drain the rice and add it to a pot with 4 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt.

Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.

Cook the rice for 15 minutes, then remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

In a small bowl, dissolve the saffron threads in 2 tablespoons of hot water.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the pistachios, almonds, cranberries, barberries, orange zest, and sugar to the skillet.

Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the saffron water to the skillet and mix well.

Fluff the rice with a fork and transfer it to the skillet.

Gently mix the rice with the ingredients in the skillet.

Cover the skillet and cook for an additional 10 minutes over low heat.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
