Danish Pastry Apple Bars II
Danish pastries are believed to have originated in Austria, but they became popular in Denmark in the 19th century and are now a staple in Danish cuisine.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, combine the flour and granulated sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms.

Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and lemon juice. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the dough in the baking dish.

Crumble the remaining dough over the apples.

Bake for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Allow to cool completely in the baking dish.

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar. Cut into bars and serve.
