  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and beaten egg to the flour mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
  8. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Brush the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle with pearl sugar.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Let the buns cool on a wire rack before serving.
