Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out one disk of dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Use a reindeer-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. In a small bowl, mix together the icing sugar and a few drops of water until you have a thick icing consistency.
  11. Divide the icing into two bowls. Add red icing gel to one bowl and black icing gel to the other.
  12. Decorate the cooled cookies with the red icing, creating a nose, and the black icing, creating eyes and antlers.
  13. Place a mini pretzel at the top of each cookie for the antlers.
  14. Use a dot of icing to attach a red candy-coated chocolate for the nose and two edible candy eyes.
  15. Allow the icing to set before serving.
