  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add the granulated sugar and mix well.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish. Drizzle the chocolate syrup over the batter. Top with the remaining batter.
  7. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool in the baking dish for 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
