Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Roll out the puff pastry sheets and place them on a baking sheet.

Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and egg yolks.

Gradually pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Let the pastry and custard cool completely.

Once cooled, spread the custard evenly over one of the pastry sheets.

Top with the second pastry sheet.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate and butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

Pour the melted chocolate over the top of the pastry and spread evenly.

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the chocolate to set.
