Chocolate Cupcakes with Peppermint Frosting

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with the batter.

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small bowl, beat together the powdered sugar, butter, milk, and peppermint extract until smooth and creamy.

Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost them with the peppermint frosting.
