Chocolate Chunk Cookies
The first chocolate chip cookie was invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in the 1930s when she ran out of baker’s chocolate and substituted it with chopped up chocolate chunks.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the chocolate chunks.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
