Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
The first chocolate chip cookie was created by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938 when she added chopped up bits from a Nestle semi-sweet chocolate bar into a cookie recipe.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix well.

Stir in the oats and chocolate chips.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
