Chocolate Chip Challah
Challah is a traditional Jewish bread that is often enjoyed on the Sabbath and other Jewish holidays. Adding chocolate chips to challah gives it a delicious twist and makes it a perfect treat for breakfast or dessert.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and vegetable oil.

Gradually add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and knead in the chocolate chips.

Divide the dough into 3 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope.

Braid the ropes together and transfer to a greased baking sheet.

Cover the braided dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and water.

Brush the egg wash over the top of the challah and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Allow the challah to cool before serving.
