Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract together. Add to the oat mixture and mix well.

Press two-thirds of the mixture into the prepared baking pan.

Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped nuts over the cherry filling.

Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the top.

Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Allow to cool in the pan for 30 minutes before cutting into bars.
