  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in black food coloring gel until the batter is completely black.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, spread a layer of dark chocolate ganache over the top of the cake.
  11. Decorate with whipped cream and place edible ghost decorations on top.
  12. Chill the cake for at least 1 hour before serving.
