Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the batter. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and chopped pecans. Top with the remaining batter.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Allow to cool in the pan for 1 hour before cutting into bars.
