  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk and sour cream. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the buttercream frosting and black food coloring gel until well combined.
  8. Frost the cooled cupcakes with the black buttercream frosting.
  9. Place a pair of candy eyes on each cupcake to create the bat's eyes.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
