  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add milk and heat until warm.
  3. Add warm milk mixture, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the chocolate and cocoa powder. Set aside.
  7. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  8. Sprinkle the chocolate mixture evenly over the dough.
  9. Starting from one long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log.
  10. Cut the log in half lengthwise and twist the two halves together, keeping the cut sides facing up.
  11. Place the twisted dough into a greased loaf pan.
  12. Cover the pan with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 1 hour.
  13. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  14. Bake the babka for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  15. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  16. Transfer the babka to a wire rack to cool completely.
  17. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
