  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract. Add to the oat mixture and mix well.
  4. Press two-thirds of the oat mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread the cherry preserves evenly over the oat mixture.
  5. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the cherry preserves.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
